Don't be Fair by Don Campbell

Life’s not Fair….nor should it be

1 Tim. 5:8
family first (worse than an infidel)

Galatians 6:10
do good to all, especially those in the household of faith (family of believers)

Heaven’s not Fair
Matthew 6:1-6,16-18,20, 16:27, 20:13-16, 25:14-30
1 Cor. 3:8-15, 2 John 4:10, Rev. 22:12

Hell’s not Fair
Romans 2:5-6, 2 Peter 2:21, Rev. 20:11-15

God’s not Fair…nor do we want Him to be
Children of Israel were “preferred” by God
We don’t’ want fairness or justice from God….we want mercy

Don’t be Fair
Old saying, “if I do it for you I’d have to do it for everyone”

“Do for one what you wish you could do for all”
Go deep rather than wide
Go long rather than short
Go time more than money

I Don't Wanna be a Goat by Don Campbell

Mathew 25:31-46
Jesus in Street Clothes

Jesus sends a very clear message here….carrot and the stick….punishment and reward….blessings and curses.

We water down the message, discount it, and over look it…..why? Because we can’t get past “doing church” long enough to see the importance of “being the church”.

We say, “I’m a Christian, I go to church most every Sunday”.
Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car!

Luke 6:30
Give to everyone who asks…

Mark 10:17-31
Treasure and Trust
Where is your treasure? Where is your trust?

Vs. 23 – How hard it is for those who TRUST in riches to enter the kingdom of Heaven
Vs. 29-31 – Promise: 100 times as much in this present age…..and with them, persecution
We forget about the promises
Something the rich young ruler didn’t understand.
YOU WILL BE BLESSED!

But more importantly:
“Because of your Service…Men will Praise God”
2 Corinthians 9:12-13

When they close the book on the story of Hunter Hills in 2011, would that the Lord will say of us what he said of Thyatira:

“You are now doing more than you did at first”
Revelation 2:18-19

Runaway Peace Train (Part 2) by Don Campbell

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only”
-Charles Dickens - A Tale of Two Cities

Esther 1:13
Wise men understand the times

1 Chronicles 12:32
Issachar Understood the Times and Knew what Israel should do

One Billion Google searches each day.
More texts per day than people on the earth.
500 people join World of Warcraft every 5 seconds
5000 YouTube videos are viewed every 5 seconds
500,000 face book posts made every 5 seconds

Thirty years ago the national weekly average of television viewing was about 12 hours a week per person. Today the average is 22 hours per week per person. Add to that 14 hours per week per person of non-work-related internet surfing and you’ve just added 24 hours per week per person that wasn’t there “back in the good old days”. That’s a WHOLE DAY!

These “times” tend to be in direct conflict with the Spiritual Disciplines of :

Simplicity
Purging everything from my life that is not worthy
Luke 9:58 – “Foxes have holes…”

Solitude

The bliss of silence and separation
Matt. 14:13 – “Jesus withdrew to a lonely place apart…”

Meditation
Building the inner sanctuary of the heart
Matt. 4:1-12 – Jesus went to the desert to pray and fast

Psalm 119:37
FOCUS
“Turn my eyes from worthless things”

Trivial pursuit is not just a game…..it is a lifestyle – Rick Warren

Like Hamsters on the wheel…..busy as can be…..but getting no where.

Richard Foster said, “Hurry is not of the devil, it IS the devil”

Runaway Peace Train by Don Campbell

Many people think that Christianity should be a PEACE TRAIN. No problems,
no worries, the Lord’s gonna take care of them all. Health and Wealth will be
ours.

But then reality kicks in and our Peace Train looks more like a Crazy Train.

John 14:27
Peace – not as the world gives

World – Peace = Absence of Conflict
Jesus – Peace = Comfort in the midst of Conflict

World – NO Peace? Change your circumstances – job, friends, spouse
Jesus – NO Peace? Change yourself or rather be changed by the Spirit

We know from Galatians 5 that Peace is a Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:25
If we live by the Spirit…we keep in step with the Spirit.

This isn’t about changing your circumstances….it is about changing YOU.

There are some fundamental things that we fail to DO…STEPS on the SPIRIT’s PATH we miss…that can cause us to stunt the growth of our fruit crop of PEACE.

Matt. 6:12
forgive us AS WE forgive others

Matt. 6:14
If / Then statements should always be highlighted

Mark 11:25
When you stand praying, hold anything against anyone, forgive him

1 John 2:9-11
light vs. darkness – stumbling around in the darkness – crazy train

Eph. 4:26-27, 31-32
Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath. Devil a foothold.

Get rid of all malice and forgive.

Holding back forgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person gets
sick.

Its time for a “Do-Over”
