Shepherding a Child's Heart by Don Campbell

We must shepherd their thoughts, helping them learn DISCERNMENT and WISDOM (God’s Wisdom).

Our goal is not just to have well behaved children but they need to know WHY they sin and HOW to recognize spiritual change in their lives.

It involves an investment of your life in your child’s life. It requires open and honest communication that reveals the meaning and purpose of life.

Values are not taught...they are caught. The shepherd doesn’t say to the sheep, "go up that hill"...the shepherd walks up the hill and the sheep follow.

Proverbs 13:20 - Who they hang around is who they will become

John 13:3-5

Ephesians 6:4 - nurture and admonition

This is one of the best books on parenting I've ever read. It goes beyond simple pop-pyschology and behavior modification to deal with character--both the child's and the parent's!
