Why would God make 1/2 of us completely different creatures?

In His Time by Don Campbell

Patience

Waiting until later for what you want right now.

Impatience violates the very first commandment.

You are a god.

Psalm 82 and John 10:33-36

When I want things in MY time instead of God’s time ….I am putting a god before GOD.

Acts 1:7

“It is not for you to know the times”

Psalm 31:14-15

“My times are in your hands”

Hearing the Voice of God by Daryl Greer

2 Weeks ago we talked about 4 points
  1. "My Kingdom is not of this World"
  2. Human leadership in the Kingdom of God is different than the worlds
  3. The church is the body of Christ (not an association, not an institution, not a company)
  4. The head of the Body of Christ is Jesus
Last week we looked at several ways that Shepherds do their jobs
  • Teaching
  • Prayer
  • Spiritual Discernment
Today, we will look more closely at the Spiritual Discernment and what it means to be led by the Spirit.

Shepherds Beside Us

As the church prepares to add two more Shepherds, the current Shepherds and Don have a panel discussion of what it means for having Shepherds who are beside us.

Daryl reminds us of his lesson from last week and explains the format for today.

Don shows that there are two things in the I Timothy and Titus passages about Shepherds, experiences and character. As you study those passages, look for those two things.
  • Experience 1 - The Husband of One Wife
  • Experience 2 - The Father of Believing Children
Bob talks about the characteristic of a man being able to change. That does not necessarily mean just the ability to stand up in front of an audience and deliver a prepared set of material. Teaching is when people pick up what you do because you have modeled the behavior. (Hebrews 13:7)

Ron talks about "guarding against false teaching" and "letting the Spirit guide." Acts 15 and 20 have examples of what this looks like. Letting the Spirit guide is about being able to make judgments and discern what is best.
Lanar specifically talks about James 5:14-16. Beside physical healing the passage talks about spiritual healing.

Daryl provides conclusive thoughts to wrap up the different thoughts.

Easter 2010

As is his custom for Easter, Don spoke and led communion thoughts. This year he preached 4 little sermonettes throughout the service. He and I decided that this format would not be conducive to recording.

When NOT to Pray

Continuation of thoughts from several weeks ago.

Joshua 7

Questions to Ask:

  1. Do I mask irresponsibility with prayer?
  2. Do I see irresponsibility and facilitate it?
  3. Am I reaping what someone else has sown?

Responsibility is a community thing....not a solo thing.

There is NO WIN in being tolerant of irresponsible behavior.

If God has addressed it in His word, then you don’t have to pray about it

You can’t PRAY your way out of something you have BEHAVED your way into.

Irresponsibility creates conflict within a person and within a community.

The Guest List by Don Campbell

A Crooked Family Tree (Matthew 1:3-6)
Matthew gives an odd historical account. History writers were paid to make the person who hired them look good. But Matthew goes out of his way to mention four women who would not be flatering to the Messiah. Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheeba were mentioned...3 out of the four weren't even Jewish.

I have not come for the (self) Righteous, but for the Sinners
Why? Because Matthew knew that the story of Jesus was all about the skeletons and sinners.
Matthew 9:1-12 - Matthew met Jesus when he(Matt) was considered one of the lowliest in the land. He was a Tax Collector which made him unclean to the "holy". Yet Jesus sought him out and ate with him.

Then Jesus gave perhaps the most important quote in the gospel. "I have come not for the righteous but for sinners".

The Christmas Story
God sent Jesus to draw to him those who had been drawn away.
We must change our mindset to fit this truth. Those who think they are righteous and those who know they are not are both in need of a savior.
